International Menstrual Hygiene Day : Adults Coached on Better Hygienic Practices

As part of activities to mark the 2023 edition of World Menstrual Hygiene Day which was observed with the theme: Making Menstruation a normal fact of life by 2030, TeenAlive, a non governmental organization organized a workshop to school youths on Menstrual hygiene.
As pointed out by the Gender Based Violence (GBV) coordinator and TeenAlive focal person in Bamenda, Ngonga Linda, access to sanitary pads,
"many young girls both in developed and developing countries don't really have access to sanitary products and even when it is available, it is too expensive,"said Ngonga Linda

TeenAlive organization distributed sanitary pads to young girls as a way of commemorating the day.
The Parish Pastor of Tubah Presbytery, Rev. Numfor Godwin has prescriped continues education as a way to promote proper menstrual hygienic practices.
This was during a church service on Sunday May 28 which also had as celebrations World Menstrual Hygiene Day.

Parents should endeavor to always ask questions and have conversations with their children regarding their menstrual cycle," The Reverend said.
On the importance of the day, Ngonga Linda explained that,
"the day is important because it creates awareness on the wellfare and health of young girls who are menstruating. It also emphasizes on clean and reusable pads, an idea chapioned by TeenAlive. This helps the girls to be able to manage menstrual discomfort successfully with the the help of their parents who should always engage them in period talks.
Participants at the workshop appreciated TeenAlive for the education and the sanitary towels they received while praying that more should come from TeenAlive in the nearest future.
