International Nurse's Day: Nurses Invited To Put Humanity First

Nurses in Bamenda, Northwest Region of Cameoon have been called upon to ignore the temptations money brings and focus on saving lives.

The call was made by Jam Emile, a nurse at the Bamenda Regional Hospital during activities to commemorate the 2022 edition of the International Day of Nurses with the theme: Invest In Nursing And Respect Rights To Secure Global Health. 

"Nursing is not all about the money. Most people do nursing to go abroad and make money but looking at the theme, we should have a focus on securing global health, " Nurse Jam explained and added that, "we could develop new ideas and new strategies. Florence Nightingale did not just start nursing alone, she brought up new innovations into nursing which made her so significant."

As to who can be a nurse, Jam Emile, a nurse at the Regional Hospital in Bamenda summed up the answer in the following words,

 " Anyone can be a nurse provided you have passed through training, have the necessary skills and have the enthusiasm to do it."

Jam went further to encourage the youths regarding the profession,

 " I want to encourage youths to do something unique, improve in nursing and make themselves renowned instead of feeling travelling abroad is all that is required in the Noble profession. We should keep the money idea aside and work for a particular perspective and everything else will follow".

As far as the day at the Regional Hospital in Bamenda was concerned, activities started on the 6th of May, 2022 with the nurse's week which ended on the 12 of May with visits to schools. The aim was to talk to future nurses on the importance of the day and helped reshape their focus, 

" The aim of the visits was also to get some of the difficulties these student nurses face during internship as far as the profession is concerned," Nurse Ebai Bisong indicated.

We have also garthered that many see Nurses as heroes and heroins because of their job.12 of May which is celebrated World wide as International nurse's day was set aside to recognize nurses and their efforts in saving humanity.

It should be noted that the day was founded by Florence Nightingale who saw nursing as an integral part in the care rendered to humanity. She did a lot of work which are seen today as a point of focus to always remember her.

CAMGEW Advocate For Socio-Economic And Environmental Rights Of Women

    Fozao Vaniela Open Debate Talk Cameroon Gender And Environmental Watch ( CAMGEW) organized a one day session to discuss better ways to advocate for women's Socio-Economic And Environmental Rights, March 9, 2022. This comes a day after the international women's day celebration 2022 celebrated under the theme: "Gender Equality Today For A Sustainable Tomorrow". Present, were students from the department of communication and development as well as those of geography and planning from the University of Bamenda, MINFOF as well as inspector of social welfare as well as women empowerment. World Hepatitis Day: Population Invited To Get Vaccinated

 Fozao Vaniela  The population of Bamenda and the North West Region as a whole have been advised to get vaccinated against Hepatitis in order to guard against the disease. Vaccination Campaign The call came from Mr. Simon Njoya, a Microbiologist at the Regional Hospital in Bamenda during activities to commemorate the 2022 edition of World Hepatitis Day, July 28 2022 with the theme: Bringing Hepatitis Care Closer To Everyone. "All those who have been recently screened are advised to come back and get vaccinated in order to stay safe," Mr Njoya said. Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver which has a wide range of causes. It can be caused by bacteria or fungi. The non- infectious hepatitis can be caused by alcohol and  drug abuse, antibiotics, traditional medicine and toxins.  Findings have revealed that Hepatitis B and C are the leading causes of chronic hepatitis and it can lead to liver disease.
